The Soccer studies to create an own channel of TV
Soccer to soccer needs the television to survive because the sponsors do not make business with the 15,000 spectators who go in direct seeing each party of the Major League (MLS) of the United States

The past day 2 of April the ABC was going to televise the encounter between Kids the USA and the DC United and Dave Checketts, executive in charge of the televising committee of the MLS, rubbed the hands because it knew that this party was fundamental to gain new followers. But that Saturday, few minutes before the broadcasting began, passed away Juan Pablo II and the ABC suspended soccer to send it to the chain ESPN that only sees by cable and satellite and very has a reduced hearing.

It is not the first time that soccer falls suddenly of the grill of the ABC. In the summer of 1999, the party of stars of Liga did not televise by the death of John Kennedy Junior, the son of president JFK. Checketts in addition is the proprietor of Real Salt Lake, an equipment that takes the name from Real Madrid: Soccer has not been successful in the television and we must remedy it. One of the proposals is to unite us to a chain or established or to create our own channel of soccer of 24 hours.

Liga must negotiate the television rights the next year and the ABC does not seem arranged to renew it. The rest of the chains that can enter the race is the ESPN2, HDnet, of the high resolution television, and Fox Soccer Chanel. This company has bet more by the European and South American encounter of Ligas and has reduced the cover of the dedicated spaces when soccer. At this moment we needed more projection, than our players become more popular before the spectators, affirms Checketts.

Nevertheless, the creation of an exclusive channel of the MLS seems complicated due to the consolidation of chains of European soccer like GolTV, that televises encounter of Calcium and Spanish Liga, of Fox Soccer Chanel, with parties of the Premier and the Bundesliga, of TyC Sports of Argentina and Fox Sports in Spanish.
