The European Union of Broadcasting will rent two transponders of the satellite Atlantic IBRD 3 for the cover of the Olympic Games of Winter
The European Union of Radiodifusión (UER) has signed a contract for the rent of two broadband complementary transponders in the satellite Atlantic IBRD 3 (5º the West) for the cover of the Olympic Games of Winter of Turin (Italy).
This agreement corresponds to the rent in the dates between the 31 of January and 27 of February of 2006, of two 36 complete transponders of MHz each in Ku band, that will increase in more of a 20% permanent capacity already rented by the UER to the satelite operator.
The Union will assure to its members the purchase and the management the rights diffusion, distribution of images in direct of all the events regarding the Games by means of five channels of video of high speed (24 Mbps), the production of summaries of the best moments and the provision of the private connections and of all the associated technical services.
The additional capacity rented by the UER in this satellite will be used mainly to connect the equipment of present news articles in the places of the facts with the centers of diffusion of the own channels. Aside from these deprived connections, the UER will also assure the simultaneous diffusion five hundred hours of broadcastings of the sport training in direct for their 74 members of 54 countries of Europe, Africa of Norte and the Middle East.
Within the framework of these operations, the Union will take to the place of the facts an infrastructure completely dedicated to this sport event with the unfolding of new telepuerto, that will provide the satelite communications eighteen permanent channels, fourteen of them in Eutelsat.
