Discovery Networks prepares the launching of Planet Green TV
It will be dedicated to the ecological awareness and the climatic change counting in his programming with stars of the American series that will be in charge to present/display the different contents from the new thematic channel

Following the ecological current of Hollywood, headed by stars like Robert Redford, the channel Planet Green will emit from the 4 of June a dedicated programming to give simple ideas to avoid the global heating. The objective public is university students and the families who have demonstrated interest in improving the planet, changing with small actions their forms of life.

“It used to interest only ecologists, NGO volunteers… but now the environment is a subject of all”, comments David Zaslav de Discovery Networks. “We want that people participate in funny form and with the spirit than all we can make it together”.

Although other cable channels already offer programming blocks on ecology, this one is the first “totally green” television. “The voices of Hollywood will help to find a ampler public for the channel”, says the head of Planet Green, Eileen O'Neill. Other experts indicate that they will add a dose of credibility to the treated subjects.

For example, Adrian Grenier, the protagonist of “Entourage”, will produce and appear in “The Green Life”, program that aspires “to inspire at an emotional level” the care of the environment, including the recycling, like the renovation of the water of the swimming pool and the recycled water shower.

Planet Green, that replaces Discovery Home, and will be available in the homes of 50 million Americans from the 4 of June. This new channel is part of the reorganization of the “American major”, that also has transformed Discovery Times into Investigation Discovery, and the next year Discovery Health becomes the channel of Oprah Winfrey.
