The Italian public television will take advantage of the Championship Soccer of the Eurocopa during the month of June to transmit some parties in high resolution format (HD) although will only be in some regions

They will be the regions of the Valley d' Aosta and Sardinia, as well as in the cities of Milan, Rome and Turin. The match will be transmitted in the terrestrial analogical television under the traditional format of 4/3 format and also in high resolution.

The Italian terrestrial analogical television is the first regular transmission of HD after the tests realized by Mediaset through Rete4 HD initiated during the past year.

After the Eurocopa 2008, that will be celebrated in Austria and Switzerland, RAI has predicted to continue the transmissions in high resolution of other sport events in the hope of initiating of official and definitive form the regular diffusions in HD in the digital television during the 2009.
