The president of ONO, Eugene Galdón, has assured during the opening of the 54 Congress of the European Cable that the cable companies are “the motor of the competition, the innovation and the development of society of the information in Europe”.

Galdón emphasized that the main objective of the cable companies has been from its creation “abrir to the competition markets that before were controlled by enormous monopolies” and added that the one of the cable “is a necessary sector for Europe”.

The president of ONO, company anfitriona of the congress, assured that the networks of new generation, or “new generation networks” (NGN), already exist, because they are the cable, and advanced that in the very near future speeds among 100 and 200 will be able to be offered megabites per second (Mbps).

In this sense, the Cable president Europe, that reunites to the operators of the sector, Manuel Cubero, explained that the companies of the association invested to the past year the 22 percent of their income in their optical fiber network with the intention of offering “soon” 200 speeds of Mbps and simultaneous emissions of television of interactive high resolution and services of telephony.

On the other hand, Cubero emphasized that during the past year the joint income of the cable companies in Europe grew a 12.6%, up to 17,900 million Euros, within a “tendency of constant growth”, and obtained a 40% more of clients than in 2006, up to 13.9 million.
