They negotiate fusion of French platforms CanalSat and TPS
Vivendi Universal, TF1 and M6, proprietors of the two platforms of television via satellite of France, announce that they are in negotiations for its fusion

In an official notice, the three companies indicated that the negotiations persecute the approach of TPS and the Canal+ Group to create a set that can to confront the increasing competition in the companies of communications and Internet.

TPS is the digital platform of TF1 and M6, whereas Vivendi Universal controls the Canal+ Group, proprietor of CanalSat (before CanalSatellite), the other platform of digital television via satellite in France.

The approach of both companies will become in the interest of the present ones and future subscribers and with respect to the identities of the two companies, indicated.

The three groups indicated that they will not give more details of the operation in the hope of the conclusion of the negotiations.

CanalSat is the digital platform via pioneering satellite in Europe and leader in France by the number of subscribers whom it has, near three million, whereas TPS does not reach half of their competitor (1.350.000 subscribers).

CanalSat emits its ample supply of channels through the Astra satellites (19,2º This) using the systems of conditional access Mediaguard and Viaccess. TPS uses the satellite Eutelsat Hot IBRD (13º This) and its system of encryption is the one of Viaccess.
