Approximately 3.600 sorianos might remain without sign TDT after the analogical blackout of 2010. A number that in the region might climb up to 200.000 Castilians and from Leon ones (10 % of the entire population) that might go so far as to have difficulties or they will not be able to see the TDT after the step to the digital sign.
This is the principal conclusion to which the Report Sobre comes the Situation of the TDT in Castile and León prepared by SES Astra and presented yesterday in Valladolid inside the day ‘Soluciones for the digitization in Castile and León ’.
In case of Soria (93.593 inhabitants, 3,7 % on the whole of Castile and León and a population density of 9,1 inhabitants for square kilometer) one thinks that 60 % of his inhabitants is provided with sign of TDT; what there represents 30 % of the territory of the province. At present they have problems to receive the sign TDT it divides them more to the east of the regions Moncayo and of High Earths, as well as the Covaleda area.
The report, for whose making there have been born in mind demographic numbers, information relative to indicators TDT (coverage, penetration, sale of tuners and hearing) and the field work of 43 fitters in Castile and León, concludes that the penetration indexes (25,9 % opposite to 31,8 % of national average) and of hearing (10,9 % opposite to 18,3 % of national average) of the TDT, they are in Castile and León between the lowest of Spain.
To the problems of the adaptation other determinant difficulties are added to the TDT, to the detriment of a good coverage: the orography, the dispersion of the population in numerous areas of Castile and León, the current state of the facilities and the interferences that take place between the terrestrial spreading centers.
As for the rest of the Community, Zamora, Avila and León are the most affected provinces.
Possible solutions
In October, SES Astra opposed the contest for the enlargement of the coverage of Digital TV in Castile and León arguing the violation of the beginning of technological neutrality, favoring the terrestrial digital technology opposite to the satelital, and the impediment of the free competition in the sector.
The solution foreseen by the regional Government happens for an extension of the digital sign of a terrestrial way but, nevertheless, approximately 60.000 Castilians and from Leon ones would continue without having digital television.
