SES Astra and GlobeCast, a branch of the Group France Télécom, have announced the signing of a contract of aptitude with the French operator of telecommunications Orange to distribute his new offer of Orange satellite TV, directed in particular to the French hearths, without television coverage across ADSL.
Orange TV is part of the triple offer play (TV, phone, Internet) and 19,2nd East will be transmitted by the system of satellites Astra across the orbital position of, which is already directed to more than five million French hearths.
Nick Stubbs, managing director of Astra France has shown that "19,2nd East is the principal direct orbital position to the satellite reception hearth in France, and allows to come to the Orange clients in the regions with insufficient ADSL coverage. Our agreement with Orange demonstrates the role of the satellite as a perfect complement to the terrestrial distribution technologies in the dressmaking of the offers of triple play with truly universal scope. Also, it reinforces moreover the Astra position on the French market of the television".
GlobeCast will be the technical person in charge of transmission of Orange TV, including the digitization, codification MPEG-4, multiplexación, codification and services of ascending linkage.
