The RAI will keep on using the Hot Bird until the year 2020

Eutelsat Communications and Telespazio announce the signature of an agreement until 2020 on the use of the capacity of two transpondedores of the satellites Hot Bird for the emission of the channels of the RAI

At present, the satellite transmission of the channels of the radio Italian public television is realized across Hot Bird 8. The above mentioned channels will be transferred in February to two of the new transpondedores of the satellite Hot Bird 9 of Eutelsat. The latter satellite is on the point of being operative after sul throwing to the space last December 20, 2008.

Two transpondedores will transmit the principal channels of the RAI as it is RAI 1, RAI 2 and RAI 3 to which seven more channels will be added: Rai News 24, RAI Sport Pi�, Rai Gulp, Rai Med, Sat 2000, Senato TV, Chamber dei Deputati and four educational channels (Rai Edu 1 and 2, Rai Nettuno Sat 1 and Rai Nettuno Sat 2). Both transpondedores also will have capacity for the emission of seven radio channels of the RAIi.

In Italy, the channels of the RAI channels can be received in more than seven million hearths provided with digital decoders to get the sign for the satellite Hot Bird of Eutelsat The available capacity it will be used also to send to some channels of the RAI operators of cable of Europe, North of Africa and Middle East.
