The proposal was an idea of the Ofcom, organism that regulates and controls the audio-visual means in the United Kingdom, in a study that they realized to balance the battle between the released television sector last Wednesday.

"RTL (producer of Five) is grateful for the proposal of the Ofcom, since he thinks that the combination of Channel 4 and Five can play a very important role inside the television public sector", made sure the executive director of RTL, Gerhard Zeiler. "We believe that it is an exciting idea that might solve, in the long term, the problem of the industry televisva in our country", it concluded Zeiler.

In spite of the good impression that has caused the project, Channel 4 believes that the merger will not solve the structural problems of the industry, since the advertisers prove to be less ready to invest in public services.
