Eutelsat counts also of terrestrial infrastructure and, for Spain, he has a proper node of communications located in the facilities of Abertis Telecom in Arganda of the King (Madrid) that will be who will guarantee the operation of the whole network.
By the middle of 2010 one hopes to have a new satellite, the KA-SAT, which will give services similar to the terrestrial ADSL2.
Arduino Patacchini, manager of Skylogic, Eutelsat branch, has shown in an interview to Five Days, that the service that gives the satellite is "complementary" to the terrestrial one, "not competition" and that the offer is directed initially to cover the demand that exists in the geographical areas that suffer the consequences of the digital break.
Eutelsat has started the project with satellites that it already has operative. The key to be able to give the speed of access that we announce is that the service uses a new band (the band K) to 30 gigahercios, while the current satellites work to 14 gigahercios, and this allows us to have more capacity satelital, reduce costs and do smaller teams, has told the manager, who clarifies that, thanks to this new technology, the user will not need to have a telephone line employed and will obtain in return a speed of two Mbps of descent and 384 Kbps of increase.
Eutelsat will invest in the project (that in addition to the satellite implies the creation of a network of nodes of terrestrial communication) 350 million euros, eight millions in Spain. The signature has marked like commercial target to receive between 500.000 and 600.000 hearths in five years and to reach a business of 100 annual millions from the third year.
