The trade unions Bectu and the National Union of Journalists warn that it will affect seriously to the informative programs, since they hope that about 4.600 persons should join.

The BBC is immersed in a plan of saving and clippings of employment of three years impelled by general manager Mark Thompson. It affects 108 workers of BBC News, between them the political publisher Martha Kearney and the veteran journalist Michael Crick.

The clippings politics was forged in 2005, when he announced to himself that one would do without 3.780 workers within a period of three years with the target to save 511 million euros a year.

The general manager of the chain, Mark Thompson, detailed then that would eliminate 420 positions in informative, 66 in sports, 150 in dramatic, infantile programs and of entertainment, 755 in regional, 58 in new means and 424 in other programs.

Last January, the British Government approved an increase of 3 % of the canon of the public chain in the next two years. This increase is lower than the needed one by the BBC, therefore Thompson has announced "an additional pressure on the jobs" to face to the losses.
