Augusto Santos Silva has made sure that before end of year the contest will be opened for the allocation of frequencies of terrestrial digital television (TDT) in Portugal. But it specified that the Parliament, where the socialistic government has absolute majority, must approve the new law before end of year so that the Government could open the contest of the TDT and fulfill the due term.
His declarations took place after the Portuguese government was approving this February 22 a project of law of television that supports the licenses authorization for 15 years but with five-year "evaluations" and the obligatory nature to announce the programming with 48 hours of advance.
The project, which must be discussed and approved in the parliament, also will serve to impel the terrestrial digital television, which still has not started in Portugal.
The cessation of the analogical transmissions of the television in Portugal would produce a pair of years to itself later than in Spain, foreseen for the April, 2010.
