‘La Sixth' is the last private chain that has joined to the Spanish television panorama and has done it betting energetically for the sport. 2006 was already done by the rights of the World cup of Germany and now it tries to achieve that two colossuses of the Spanish soccer, Barca and Real Madrid, sell to him the emission rights until 2011.

The current contract of the Barca with Televisió de Catalunya associated with the rest of autonomic and Digital Bonus in Audio-visual Sport, expires in 2008 but in the same one there exists a clause of rescue for which the Barca might recover the rights and readjudicarlos. ‘Televisió of Catalunya' he would be sixty days old to exercise the right of first refusal (to support the contract if they equal the offer) once blaugrana he communicates the entity to himself officially, sews that yesterday it still had not done when the information filtered.

It seems difficult that the Catalan public entity is ready to equal this offer that overcomes amplísimamente the current agreement that had been already qualified by the general manager of the CCRTV, Joan Majó, of “decisión disastrous ”.

The negotiations with the Barca Jaume Roures, responsible for Mediapro has taken them and in representation of the conglomerate of companies that form ‘la Sixth' (the proper Mediapro, Globomedia, The Terrat, Televises, Drive and Bainet).

At present, the (autonomic) FORTA and channel TVE negotiate with Sogecable the parties share-out for Saturday (autonómicas/La2), on Sunday (Channel +) and those of payment for vision (‘Digital Bonus').

Now, if Barca and Real Madrid were signing these new contracts, ‘la Sixth' would always choose first of all the parties that he would like to express and the rest, as till now, they would offer Theirs Digital Bonus in payment for vision.


The international laws cost 12 millions

The agreement that the persons in charge of the Barca have negotiated and of ‘la Sixth' would not include the television rights of the international parties of the entity azulgrana since these are contemplated in another contract that the Barca signed with Sogecable until 2008 and in the one that did not include rescue clause, for what will be very difficult to renegotiate it before it expires.

The principal characteristic of this contract is that it guarantees to the Barca a few annual income for 12 million euros although it was not qualifying for any international competition. The whole life insurance, although one does not have to forget either that the Catalan entity is the only one that has never been missing to the European competitions in his half a century of history.

The contract has a series of stretches according to the income. From this 12 million euros and up to a ceiling of 24, everything what he receives the Barca is going to stop to ‘Sogecable'. Overcome 24 millions, the income are distributed to 50 %. It escapes from nobody that to improve this formula is the following target of the club.
