The acquisition of the rights of the Formula 1 —que includes television and Internet — on the part of the shareholder of the Sixth one is included in a "big bet" by the sport, according to sources of this chain.

From his appearance, the Sixth one there has been done by the rights of the last World cup of Soccer (shared with Four), of the World cup of Basketball, the League of soccer and the Eurobasketball of Spain in 2007, between others.

The agreement has been reached with 'It formulates One Management (FOM)' and limits itself exclusive for the whole Spanish territory. At present, the rights were consisting until 2008 in being able of Telecinco and of TV3, in this case for the Catalan territory.

Telecinco has told that he has given up retaining the rights of transmission of the Formula 1 because the "important investment" necessary to obtain it "was escaping to any profitability criterion", especially bearing in mind that, being "one of many contents that guarantee the leadership" of the chain, it was not "the surest" for his seasonal character and for depending on the sports results.

Also, sources of the chain of Mediaset pointed out that the adquisión of the rights of the maximum car competition on the part of Mediapro demonstrates the irruption on the market of the rights of contents of "a group of raw fans", and added that other high investments in rights of sports transmissions have demonstrated recently his scarce profitability, so much on the subject of economic results as hearing.

This is the third agreement of big caliber that there obtains the group Imagina, formed by the merger of the groups Árbol-Globomedia and Mediapro, since earlier Barcelona had been done by the television rights of Real Madrid and the FC.

For the contract with the entity Real Madrid supporter, Mediapro paid, according to different informations, 1.100 million euros for a commitment of eight periods, a number similar to that of the Barcelona.
