The terms of the contract, first signed by SES with Space Systems/loral, indicate that the new NSS will be posicionado in 57th East, in the middle of 2009.
The satellite will transport 40 repeaters in band C (each one with a 36 MHz capacity) and other 48 in band Ku (with the same capacity) and will substitute the satellite NSS 8, destruído last January. The new satellite will be called NSS 12 will cover the territories of Africa, Middle East and India and will have a minimal life of fifteen years.
On the other hand, SES also is working actively to hire a complementary hybrid satellite, which will be formed from several orbital positions.
