The satellite of telecommunications Galaxy 18 of the company Intelsat was thrown this May 21 successfully in the frame of the program "Be Launch".
The satellite was thrown to the space on board of the Russian rocket Zenit-3SL that it detached at 02.43 hours of the morning from the coast of the United States.
The satellite Galaxy 18 weighs approximately 4.600 kilograms. It is provided with 24 transpondedores in band Ku and 24 repeaters in band C. Once it is placed in the orbit geostacionaria it will replace the old man Galaxy 10R.
The consortium "Is Launch" it was created in 1995 and it integrates to the North American aeronautical constructor Boeing, the British-Norwegian society Kvaerner Group, the Office of design "Yuzhnoe" (Ukraine), the plant "Yuzhmah" (Ukraine) and the Corporation of Spatial Rocketry "Energy" (Russia).
"Be Launch" it is for the time being the only company of the world that offers throwing services from a floating platform installed in an equatorial area of the Pacific Ocean.
