This is, at least, the forecast with which there works the Xunta that, across the Direction Xeral of Audio-visual Communication, negotiates at present with the Department of Industry the starting of this system to cover areas to which, for his complicated orography, it is technically impossible that the television of the future comes. Some areas of Morte's Coast and of A Mariña they are shown, as well as regions orensanas like that of Verín, neighboring with Portugal, are the priority axes of performance in which the satellite alternative plan is framed.
The next sectorial table between department and autonomous regions will tackle the execution of the satellite coverage for those areas where technically the TDT will not come, be already for his complicated access or for the obstacles that the technical staff is finding to clean of illegal emission the space radioléctrico, since they provoke interferences in the new digital transmissions, especially in the big built-up areas.
In the Galician case, Manuel José Fernández Iglesias, general manager of Audio-visual Communication, thinks that the axis of performance of the plan, which it qualifies of "complementary", happens for taking the TDT across the satellite to approximately 20.000 persons distributed by very dispersed populations in the Galician geography.
"We work so that the satellite is in service when the analogical blackout comes, the contents will be the same, but the fact is that it is the only way of covering very specific certain areas that come to represent approximately thousand built-up areas to which it is necessary to guarantee a service that is public", points out Fernández.
To complete the coverage across the satellite, the Department of Industry is provided with the options of Hispasat and Eutelsat, both informed by Abertis Telecom, the company in charge of the diffusion of the sign of TDT for most of the chains that operate in Spanish territory. From the ambience deprived one has already transmitted to the Government that the sobrecoste that will represent the possible double use of terrestrial waves and by satellite for the emission of the sign must be compensated by public funds.
Although he warns that there is no closed at all one yet, the autonomic person in charge of the application of the TDT gives sure that there will be joint financing of the Department of Industry for the execution of these new plans, in which the Galician public enterprise Retegal takes part actively. "In the sectorial table there will be decided if one resorts to the satellite or not, and also all the parameters in which we will move", it tints Fernández Iglesias. This year will complete the installation in Gallicia of 51 new issuing centers, which will guarantee an entire coverage of 93 % for the autonomic channels. At the end of 2008, for the case of the TV state, this one will be 89 % and that of the private ones, 83 %.
The target of the Xunta for April 3, 2010, when the analogical blackout takes place, is to be able to have a coverage of 98 % in the public chains and of 96 % in the private roads, which implantation is, in opinion of the Galician Administration, still very lower than the state index. The planning of the analogical blackout in Gallicia will take place in a whole of six areas, of progressive form, into a calendar that establishes three dates run. To carry out these plans, Retegal, the public enterprise of telecommunications, it will coordinate an investment estimated in 30 million euros, which will be distributed between the Central government and the Xunta.
In addition to offering images of more quality, since it will multiply by five the current programs capacity, the TDT will allow the mobile reception of television, the interactivity, the so called television à la carte or the multimedia services, as well as the convergence between the TV set and the personal computer. The sign of the image is theoretically immune to interferences, and it allows panoramic and conventional image formats.
Also, the sign can be received in any place without fixed connections, only with a portable antenna, even in vehicles in movement.
