The Spanish Government will study payment TDT if the industry asks for it
At present 19,4 % of the hearths has coverage TDT and if other platforms of digital TV join like cable, satellite and ADSL, the digital coverage comes to 30 % with a hearing of the channels of 17,4

The secretary of the State of Telecommunications and of the Information society, Francisco Ros said that the Government, "if the industry requests it", will study the possibility that the television operators could codify a "limited" part of his emission and that they are of payment.

Francisco Ros, said that technically it is possible to dedicate a part of the digital emission of TV to give codified contents, and this way it happens in some countries, but that in Spain with the current legislation it cannot be done.

He added that the Government does not want to close "the doors to the developed one of the market", protecting the interests of the users, and that this situation compared with the possibility that there goes to contemplate in the regulation of the secondary market radioeléctrico of which the mobile operators could use his bogey GSM 900 to give services of third generation UMTS.

The question was motivated by the declarations that there has done a manager of the producer Mediapro, who is in conflict for the rights of the soccer with Audio-visual Sport, of which they are interested in offering codified football matches, across the TDT.

The secretary of the State and the General manager general manager of Telecommunications and Information technology, Bernardo Lorenzo, they presented today the Technical Plan of the Digital Television that contemplates the maximum period in which the different demarcations into which the country has split, will have to close the analogical emission to conclude the entire process on April 3, 2010.

Francisco Ros told that the plan affects to the national and autonomic televisions while the places will have to allow expressing in analogical in January, 2008.

He remembered that in the awarding of the licenses of the TDT the operators did not have to pay for the frequencies, as in other countries, but sign investment commitments for the emission in digitalis and in contents.

In the informative meeting one emphasized the good position that has Spain with regard to other countries in coverage TDT of 85 per cent of the whole of the population with the digital signs.

At present 19,4 per cent of the hearths have coverage TDT and if other platforms of digital TV join like cable, satellite and ADSL, the digital coverage comes to 30 per cent with a hearing of the channels of 17,4.

The general manager of Telecommunications and Information technologies, Bernardo Lorenzo, remembered that this plan has been agreed by the sector, by criteria "only technical staff" and I highlight his technical complexity that demands the coordination of all the actors.

The plan is associated with the Regional Agreement of Radio communications of Geneva that guarantees the protection opposite to interferences.

Up to the date there have sold six million devices of reception of TDT, including TV sets with this technology.

They admitted that analogical TV sets are still selling but that the Government has no competitions to avoid it.

Ros said that the Autonomous regions, which have competitions in distribution, study to take measures so that only digital TV sets could sell.

On the financing of the Plan it pointed out that the operators take his commitments as the contracts of the licenses and that the industry thinks that the low price of the codifiers (30 ó 40 euros) does that a subsidy is not necessary.

The Industry department has put at the disposal of the users a web page renewed for the TDT "televisiondigital.es" in that it manages, communities of neighbors and particular users will be able to be on the day of the development of the plan.
